Rhode Island Green Certification Programs
The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management Green Certification Program’s are voluntary programs that are developed to assist businesses across various categories to become sustainable and to continuously improve their pollution prevention performance. The intent of these voluntary programs are to encourage reduction of toxic substances, reduce the generation of hazardous waste whenever technically and economically practicable, reduce the release into the environment of chemical contaminants which have adverse and serious health or environmental effects, reduce the use of single use plastics, increase the rates of commercial recycling, reduce sources of water pollution, reduce water usage, and to educate customers and business owners about sustainability.
