Climate Resilience Fund

DEM is pleased to announce the availability of grants from the Climate Resilience Fund to implement climate resilience projects for climate-driven challenges facing Rhode Island communities, both inland and coastal. Specifically, through this Request for Proposals (RFP), DEM is seeking proposals for projects that will support governmental and non-profit entities in restoring and improving the climate resilience of vulnerable coastal habitats, as well as river and stream floodplains and related habitats, including projects that improve community resilience and public safety. The grant program, and the criteria for evaluating and prioritizing applications, are designed to implement resilience projects for climate-driven challenges facing Rhode Island communities, both inland and coastal. State funding to support this RFP will be available from proceeds of state environmental bond referendums approved by voters in 2018 (Green Economy and Clean Water Bond). Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis pursuant to this RFP.

Approximately $1,000,000 in grant funds is expected to be available. The funds will provide matching grants to governmental and non-profit entities. The match requirement is 25% of the grant award.
