Planning & Development LINCOLN WOODS BEACH PAVILION Completed in May 2017, the pavilion features all new concessions, comfort facilities, and an expanded nature center. BEFORE & AFTER DEM’s new fixed North Pier at Fort Adams State Park enabled the Fort to host the extremely successful 2015 Volvo Ocean Race and to welcome Volvo back in 2018. GALILEE BOAT RAMP IMPROVEMENTS The newly reconstructed Galilee boat ramp opened in the summer of 2014 and is now universally accessible and features a double-lane system and added floats for increased efficiency and ease of use. Prev Next Slide 1 Slide 2 Slide 3 Slide 4 We: Design and build award winning State Park & Management Area Facilities including boat ramps, beach pavilions, bike paths, fish ladders and more; Oversee Grant Programs distributing State & Federal dollars to Municipalities and NGO's for local park development & land conservation work; and Acquire land or easements to expand our park system, conserve wildlife habitat and protect farmland for the benefit of future generations; Manage the DEM's Geographic Information System. Our work includes processing and analysis of spatial environmental data, and the production of conventional and digital cartographic products Quonnie Resiliency Project: GZA GeoEnvironmental Inc. was contracted to design and present coastal resiliency strategies for the popular boating and fishing access site in Charlestown. A grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation’s National Coastal Resiliency Fund (NFWF-NCRF) provided funding for this phase of work, along with state funds from saltwater fishing license receipts. RI DEM was recently awarded additional NFWF-NCRF funding to continue with the design and permitting for coastal resiliency projects at both Quonochontaug Breachway and Gull Cove.
