You can contact DEM/Environmental Police at (401) 222-3070 for the home study packet or you can access an online study course. Exams are offerred by appointment only. Boaters wishing to take a challenge exam should email DEM.riboatingexam@dem.ri.gov with their name, DOB, address, phone number, and email address with the subject line "Challenge Exam Request." Boaters will receive an email in response with an appointed time and date for their test, as well as the procedure to follow on the assigned day.
