Organizing Volunteers for Storm Drain Marking

• Attempt to recruit at least 10 volunteers to mark as many drains as possible within 2-3 hours. Groups typically mark about 10 drains per hour.
• Print liability waivers for your volunteers to sign and tell them to wear weather-appropriate clothing with closed-toed shoes.
• Introduction to Storm Drain Marking is a prepared talk that provides an explanation of what stormwater is, why it’s a problem, and how marking storm drains can help reduce stormwater pollution in the community. Let volunteers know they may be approached by interested residents and encourage them to educate people about stormwater pollution.
