In-Person Workshop re: Draft Mashapaug Watershed General Permit
DEM is introducing a new general permit using its Residual Designation Authority to cover stormwater runoff in the Mashapaug Watershed, which includes Mashapaug, Spectacle, and Tongue Ponds in the Cities of Cranston and Providence, that aren't currently regulated under existing permits.
This in-person workshop will be held at the Cranston Senior Center to facilitate participation by residents and affected property owners in the Mashapaug Watershed. Hosted by Rhode Island DEM, it offers property owners, the public, and other stakeholders the opportunity to learn about and provide feedback on the draft Mashapaug General Permit. The permit would apply to properties in the watershed with one acre or more of hard surfaces, such as pavement or rooftops, that drain to local waterways. A formal public comment period will follow.
A virtual workshop is also planned for Wednesday, July 30, 2025, 2:00 pm-3:30 pm. Both workshops will be identical in content and will include time for questions and answers. Subscribe to our email list to be notified of updates on this topic.
Please note that these workshops are RIDEM events and are not affiliated with the Cities of Cranston or Providence.
