Full-Time Employment

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) serves as the chief steward of the state’s natural resources – from beautiful Narragansett Bay to our local waters and green spaces to the air we breathe. Our mission put simply is to protect, restore, and promote our environment to ensure Rhode Island remains a wonderful place to live, visit, and raise a family. Join our dedicated staff and play a vital role in providing positive visitor experiences while protecting Rhode Island's beautiful natural resources. We employ engineers, mechanics, educators, data analysts, project managers, law enforcement officers, biologists, and more. Seasonal Employment

We supplement our full-time staff with seasonal employees year-round and during our peak operating season from May to October. We offer seasonal positions at DEM's Headquarters in Providence and at locations in satellite offices across Rhode Island. Many seasonal opportunities occur in DEM's Division of Parks and Recreation, which hires lifeguards for both freshwater and saltwater beaches, beach managers, park rangers and naturalists, recreational area clerks, facilities attendants, and campground attendants.
