DEM is introducing a new general permit using its Residual Designation Authority to cover stormwater runoff in the Mashapaug Watershed, which includes Mashapaug, Spectacle, and Tongue Ponds in the Cities of Cranston and Providence, that aren't currently regulated under existing permits. The draft Mashapaug General Permit would apply to properties in the watershed with one acre or more of hard surfaces, such as pavement or rooftops, that drain to local waterways.
The purpose of the Public Hearing is for any person to submit oral or written statements and data concerning the draft permit.
