Limited Staffing Notice – DEM Providence Headquarters

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management Headquarters at 235 Promenade in Providence will be open today with limited staffing, including the Office of Boating and Licensing and the Office of Customer and Technical Assistance (OCTA).

Visitors, particularly those seeking assistance with boat registrations or commercial fishing licensing, are encouraged to use DEM’s online services or call our offices before visiting in person.

Note: State parks are closed to vehicle access to allow DEM crews to continue clearing roadways and parking areas. If an area has not yet been cleared, please do not attempt to drive into it and allow crews a day or two to make it passable. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as this work continues.

Water Safety Grant Application 2025

All application sections must be completed; incomplete forms will not be considered. Applications are due by 4:00 PM on December 10, 2025. DEM will accept applications for grants of $5,000 or more for qualified applicants based on demonstrated need. Applications that do not meet the criteria will be rejected.
