You only need to register for one session. Each 4-hour session will present the same information and is intended to cover multiple shift rotations.

Classroom Instruction:
Railroad 101: Responders will learn about the railroad operational environment, potential hazards, and safety rules. Safety considerations associated with an emergency response to incidents involving freight rail will also be covered. Responders will be provided with information to help keep themselves and the community safe when dealing with rail infrastructure and rolling stock including locomotives.
Responders will also learn more about tank compliance & regulations, tank car & commodity identification, safety components, repair and inspection requirements, and train documentation.
Field Exercise:
Understanding Tank Cars: Learn about the anatomy of general service and pressure tank cars including protective housings; valves and fittings; tank components; safety appliances; jacket, shell, and head construction; placards and markings.
Important Details
Required Safety Gear: Work boots and safety glasses are required. Hard hats, reflective vest and gloves are optional.
Please advise the instructor(s) of any pre-existing medical condition(s) that may preclude you from participating in any field exercise. Stay hydrated and alert.
Each morning and afternoon session is limited to 40 attendees.
