Public Hearing re: Rhode Island T.F. Green Airport RIPDES Permit Date: September 9, 2024 — 6:00pm to 7:00pm Location: DEM Headquarters, Room 280, 235 Promenade Street, Providence DEM's Office of Water Resources is holding a Public Hearing to collect public comments for the reissuance of the draft Rhode Island Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (RIPDES) permit for Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport (“the Airport”) located at 2000 Post Road, Warwick, RI. The draft permit authorizes the discharge of stormwater flows to surface waters from seventeen (17) perimeter outfalls from the Airport’s storm drainage system. The draft permit is currently available for public comment is the subject of a public hearing. Please note that an informal public workshop is scheduled for August 7. At the Workshop, DEM will offer a short presentation that will include a summary of the changes between the 2024 draft permit and the 2012 permit. These proposed changes include the addition of PFAS wet weather monitoring, the addition of dry weather metals monitoring and water-quality-based permit limits, the requirement to develop and submit an Impervious Cover Reduction Plan, as well as updated Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) conditions. After the presentation, DEM will be available to address any questions and/or concerns from attendees. Only written comments received during the comment period, and oral testimony provided at the hearing regarding the draft RIPDES permit, will be considered part of the record.
