Marine Fisheries Regulatory Workshop

The purpose of this workshop is to provide the public with regulatory proposals currently under consideration and/or up or annual review by the Division and to afford opportunity for feedback and/or additional proposals.

AGENDA

1. Dealer regulations (Part 7 – Dealers):

• Tautog tagging

• Summer flounder packaging requirements

• Striped bass finning requirement

2. Commercial licensing (Part 2 – Commercial Marine Fishing Licenses, Landing Permits, Party/Charter Licenses):

• Exit:entry ratio for Unlimited Finfish endorsement

• Exit:entry ratios for Unlimited Shellfish endorsement

• Prioritization for the issuance of new licenses/endorsements: Apprenticeship programs and military service

• Endorsement for species other than finfish, shellfish or crustacean (e.g., kelp)

• Modify Dockside Sales endorsement and Direct Sale Dealer License for live crustaceans (e.g., shrimp)

• Issuance of Mid-Water/Pair Trawl endorsement

• Issuance of the Multipurpose Vessel License

3. Any other matters?

Note: The public hearing for these matters is scheduled for September 5th, followed by a RI Marine Fisheries Council meeting on October 2nd. Please stay tuned for future meeting announcements on the Division’s listserve.
