Information Session: Sustainable Seafood Research Initiative

Attention all seafood industry members and scientists! Please join Rhode Island Sea Grant and the University of Rhode Island for a forum to discuss the new Partnership for Research Excellence in Sustainable Seafood (PRESS).

The aim of this four-year, $1 million initiative is to direct nimble and rapid funding to address critical issues facing Rhode Island's fisheries, aquaculture, and seafood sectors. The objectives are to: (1) identify emerging issues affecting seafood production; (2) develop a research innovation and idea incubator driven by stakeholder input; (3) develop and/or enhance workforce training and educational portals; and (4) transfer technology to improve industry sustainability.

The virtual open forum on November 21st will be the first of several opportunities for you to learn more about the initiative, ask questions, and better understand how the initiative might assist your seafood-related research or business.

This information session will be recorded.

For more information, please contact Azure Cygler or Marta Gomez-Chiarri.

This initiative was established through NOAA with funding secured by Senator Jack Reed, is spearheaded by Marta Gomez-Chiarri, professor of fisheries and aquaculture at the University of Rhode Island, and is guided by an interdisciplinary team of seafood industry professionals, government agencies, nonprofits, and researchers.
