Join Rhode Island Herpetologist Scott Buchanan for a Fireside Chat all about herptiles! Enjoy refreshments by the fire while learning about all of the amphibians and reptiles that call Rhode Island their home. We will also discuss the conservation threats that Rhode Island herptiles face.

About the speaker:

Scott Buchanan is the State Herpetologist at the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management Division of Fish and Wildlife where his work includes the inventorying, monitoring, and management of amphibians and reptiles as well as applied conservation and outreach.

Dr. Buchanan completed his PhD in wildlife ecology from the University of Rhode Island where his dissertation focused on how the composition and configuration of the landscape impacts the distribution, abundance, demography, and genetic diversity of freshwater turtles.
