Join us for a Flood Talk Friday all about MyCoast and Coastsnap - an application for community-based data collection.

Join us for Flood Talk Friday with Ally Cuomo, Alex Pouliot, and Bess Points for a presentation on the application of MyCoast and Coastsnap for community-based data collection as it pertains to climate change mitigation, specifically along our coastlines. This talk will be a deep-dive into the features, functions, and uses of MyCoast and Coastsnap. Following, there will be an opportunity for discussion on how participants imagine the app being used. Your input would be greatly appreciated!

Ally Cuomo is currently a second year masters student in URI’s MESM program studying Environmental Communications and Community Planning! Her academic and research focuses are community-based science, ethnographic fieldwork, and hazard mitigation planning. Ally has been working with the Rhode Island Sea Grant this year as their communications intern, a large part of her work being preparing updates regarding MyCoast and helping out at community events.

Alex Pouliot is in her final semester in URI's MESM program, focusing on environmental policy and management, particularly as it relates to coastal resilience. Alex has been working with the Rhode Island Sea Grant Extension team and Coastal Resources Center this year on the MyCoast program and community engagement initiatives.

Bess Points is a Masters student in the University of Rhode Island's Graduate School of Oceanography. Her work involves studying the changing Rhode Island coastline using a variety of mapping techniques and technologies, including photogrammetry and GIS.
