SepticSmart Week is a national public education effort created by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to educate homeowners, businesses, and communities in caring for and maintaining their septic systems. Do you have a septic system in your backyard? Would you like to learn more about how to keep it functioning properly and protect your investment? Please join RIDEM and OWRC@URI staff on Saturday, September 24 between 10AM and 1PM at URI’s Peckham Farm for: Learning w hat it means to be SepticSmart Learning how to protect your health, your wallet, and the environment Guided tours of the Center’s above ground septic systems, including many advanced treatmentsystems including nitrogen-reducing systems RIDEM online permit search tool demonstrations to locate your system components, including tank and drainfield Private well water quality and testing information Soil testing with URI Master Gardeners And more! Directions: The Center is located in front of URI’s Peckham Farm in Kingston, RI and is visible from Route 138. Attendees should navigate to Peckham Farm URI in Kingston, RI and enter via Peckham Farm Road. Parking is free along Peckham Farm Road and near the Peckham Farm buildings. The Center is a short walk through a wooded path behind the small brick building at the corner of Peckham Farm Road and Route 138.
