RI Wastewater Treatment Plant Tour: Providence Date: April 29, 2023 — 10:00am to 1:00pm Location: 2 Ernest Street, Providence RICWA Invites You and Your Family to Free Tours to See How Clean Water Is Made April 23 – 29 is National Clean Water Week, and the Rhode Island Clean Water Association (RICWA) will be sponsoring Open Houses at five of the state’s water resource recovery facilities—the “hidden in plain sight” infrastructure that you pay for. You will be amazed at the process of making clean water! All tours are free and will be from 10am to 1pm. Pick your nearest facility & date! Check the local news for more information. Tours will be at your leisure between the publicized time frames. Come with your questions; these tours are Great for all ages! No open-toed shoes, high heels, or flip-flops. Take a tour of one of the country's best-operated and maintained wastewater treatment facilities, according to the US Environmental Protection Agency. The Field's Point facility in Providence is one of the country's oldest and the state's largest wastewater treatment facilities. Visitors will learn how their community's wastewater is processed, cleaned, and returned to Narragansett Bay. Visitors will understand how wastewater treatment is a vital link in the overall water quality chain that we depend on.
