EBC Dam Management Site Visit: Over, Around, and Through – A Field Tour of Past, and the Last Pending, Pawcatuck River Fish Passage and River Restoration Projects

Hosted by the Environmental Business Council. Join the EBC Dam Management Committee for a tour of six fish passage and river restoration project sites in Southern Rhode Island.  The project collectively restores connectivity along approximately 32 miles of the Pawcatuck River to support sustainable populations of river herring, American shad, and American eel, reduces the risk of dam failure, and enhances flood resiliency.  This site visit provides  unique and practical examples of different fish passage methods employed at each site including full and partial dam removals, a denil fish ladder, and rock ramp fishway.  Project team members will be available at each site to discuss project aspects ranging from funding, community engagement, design, permitting, construction issues and other challenges.

Sites Include:

  • Kenyon Mill Dam Removal and Nature-Like Fishway Project
  • Horseshoe Falls Dam Fish Ladder Project
  • Shannock Falls Dam Removal River Restoration Project
  • Bradford Mill Dam Removal and Nature-Like Fishway Project
  • Potter Hill Dam Removal River Restoration Project
